Telegram Notifications for Your Trading Bot: How to Turn Them On and What to Check If They Do Not Arrive
NivelixPro ·
A bot that trades 24/7 does not need you to watch it around the clock, but it is worth knowing when it has done something. That is what NivelixPro's Telegram notifications are for: one message for every trade your bots make, so you know what happened without opening the platform.
This guide explains how to link Telegram, the two ways of doing it (the official bot or your own bot with a token and Chat ID), what a notification contains and what to check if nothing reaches you. It is educational content: the notifications are informational, do not guarantee results and are not advice.
What Telegram Notifications Are and What They Are For
In the platform, the Telegram section is introduced with a simple sentence: "Receive a notice of each trade on Telegram." When a bot buys or sells, you receive a message in your chat. It works with both Grid bots and DCA plans, and also with simulated trades: the notification itself says whether the trade is a simulation or real.
A notification includes, among other data, the mode (simulation or real), the pair, the bot ID and its alias if you gave it one (that is why it is worth naming your bots; we covered it in the guide to setting up a Grid bot), the price, the quantity, the total and the reason for the trade. The language of the message is the one in your profile.
Notifications do not replace periodically reviewing your bots: they tell you that a trade happened, not whether your configuration still makes sense.
Before You Start: You Need an Active Plan
Telegram linking is available once you activate a plan. In the 30-day demo the section appears locked with the message "Activate your plan first": the demo is for exploring the platform with example bots and fictitious data, not for trading or receiving notifications.
Even so, you can enter the demo and see where the section is and how it is organised.
Where It Is: The "Telegram Alerts" Menu
Inside the platform, open the "Telegram Alerts" menu. On desktop you will see the bell icon, which is the way into this section. From there you reach the Telegram screen, which offers two paths.
Option 1: The Official Master Bot
This is the fastest way and requires no further setup. The screen shows "Option 1: Official Master Bot" with two equivalent ways in:
- Scan the QR code with your phone, or click the "Activate on Telegram" button if you are on the same device.
- The official bot opens in Telegram. Press START.
- Your account is linked and the bot replies with a welcome message.
The link carries a temporary, single-use linking code: it expires after 10 minutes and is invalidated once used. The code is only generated inside your session, so nobody can link your account knowing only your username. Treat the QR and the link as private while they are valid. In addition, when a new Telegram is linked you receive a notification email, in case it was ever not you.
If the link has expired, the bot tells you so (for now, in Spanish) and all you need to do is go back to the platform and click "Activate on Telegram" again.
If You Look for the Bot by Hand
The screen also reminds you that you can search for the bot by name in Telegram and press START. Keep an important difference in mind: without the linking code, START does not link your account. In that case the bot replies (for now, in Spanish) with your Chat ID, the number that identifies your chat, so that you paste it into the platform yourself.
With only the Chat ID pasted into its field (and no token), notifications are still sent through the official bot.
Option 2: Use Your Own Telegram Bot
If you prefer notifications to come from a bot of your own, the screen includes the Bot Token and Chat ID fields.
- Create your bot in Telegram (this is done with Telegram's official bot called BotFather, which gives you the token).
- Paste the Bot Token into its field.
- Paste your Chat ID (you can get it by pressing START on NivelixPro's official bot without a code, as explained above). Also open your own bot and press START: a Telegram bot cannot message you unless you have first started a conversation with it.
- Click "Save Telegram".
- Click TEST: the platform sends a test message that also says whether the master bot or your own was used.
If later you want to stop receiving notifications or switch bots, there is the "Unlink Telegram" button, which deletes the saved token and Chat ID.
Golden Rule: Never Share Your Bot Token
A bot's token works like its password: whoever has it can control that bot. Do not post it, do not send it in messages and do not paste it into sites you do not know. NivelixPro will never ask for your exchange password or for keys with withdrawal permission; the Telegram token is not something that should circulate either. If you think it has leaked, generate a new one from BotFather and update it in the platform.
This complements the logic of a non-custodial bot: your funds stay at your exchange and your API keys must be created without withdrawal permission, but every additional access you create, such as a Telegram bot, is also your responsibility.
Privacy: Watch Who Sees Your Chat
A notification describes what your bots do: pairs, amounts and times of buys and sells. That is information about your activity. If your phone is unlocked in view of others, if previews appear on the lock screen or if the chat is in a shared group, other people could see it. Use a private chat and review your phone's notification settings.
If the Notifications Do Not Arrive
Go through this list in order. Each point corresponds to the platform's actual behaviour:
- Do you have an active plan? In the demo the section is locked, and the platform rejects linking if the plan is not active.
- Has the link expired? The linking code lasts 10 minutes and is single-use. Open "Telegram Alerts" again and click "Activate on Telegram" once more.
- Did you press START from the link or the QR? If you looked for the bot by hand, it does not link: it will give you back your Chat ID for you to paste.
- Have you saved your Chat ID? If it is missing, sending fails with an incomplete-configuration warning. If you save the Chat ID without a token, notifications go out through the official bot; with your own bot you need both. Values with asterisks (the ones the screen shows masked) are not saved as new.
- Have you clicked "Save Telegram"? Pasting the data without saving is not enough.
- Is the token correct? If you saved a wrong token for your own bot, sends use that token before the official one. Click "Unlink Telegram" and start again with the official bot, or correct the token.
- Click TEST. If the test message arrives, the linking works; if not, the error the platform shows indicates where to go next.
- Are there any trades? Notifications come from your bots' trades. A bot with no buys or sells, or a paused one, generates no messages. Check the status in the Active tab; what a pause implies is explained in how to pause, edit and end bots and plans.
- Have you blocked the bot in Telegram? If you block it, it cannot send you messages. If you have only muted it, notifications still reach the chat, but without sound or alert. That is a setting in your Telegram app.
- Is that bot muted in NivelixPro? Each Grid bot has a speaker icon on its card; if its tooltip says "Telegram: Muted", that bot sends no notifications.
If after these checks nothing still arrives, contact support from "My Profile & Support".
Frequently Asked Questions
Are Telegram notifications a signals or advice service?
No. Trade notifications are informational messages about what your own bots have done according to your configuration. They do not recommend trading, do not guarantee results and do not constitute investment advice.
Can I receive notifications in the 30-day demo?
No. In the demo the Telegram section is locked ("Activate your plan first"), because the demo is for exploring with fictitious data. Linking is enabled when you subscribe to a plan.
Is the official bot or my own better?
It depends on what you prefer. The official bot is faster, because the QR or the button and pressing START are enough. Your own bot gives you control over the bot that sends the messages, but means you have to safeguard its token and maintain it yourself.
What is the Chat ID and where do I find it?
It is the number that identifies your chat in Telegram. If you press START on NivelixPro's official bot without going through the linking link, the bot replies with that number so you can paste it into the platform.
Can I stop receiving notifications?
Yes. Click "Unlink Telegram" on the same screen to stop receiving all of them, or use the speaker icon on a Grid bot's card to mute just that bot. If you only want to remove the sound, you can mute the chat in Telegram: the notifications will keep arriving.

Next Step: Explore the Free 30-Day Demo
If you do not use NivelixPro yet, create a free account, no card, and walk through the 30-day demo: example bots with fictitious figures, which do not represent real or expected results, and a step-by-step guide. In the demo you do not trade with real money or connect your exchange; Telegram linking comes when you subscribe to a plan.
Costs: the annual fee (taxes included) is €100, €125 or €150 depending on the plan. Grid bots in real mode also pay the SVR fee, deducted from a prepaid balance; DCA plans do not pay it. See the terms on the website.
